Artist Statement
My art is an exploration of the interplay between light, color, texture, and emotion. Through my work, I seek to capture fleeting moments and nostalgia, distilling them into visual poetry. Each stroke of the brush is an invitation to pause, reflect, and connect.
Technique and Process
I embrace both tradition and experimentation to create a style combining the stark contrast of minimalism and granular realism. Texture and paint bleed into one another, creating unexpected harmonies. Contrasting mediums are layered boldly, revealing glimpses of what lies beneath, freezing time and allowing me to steal fragments of the past. My process is a delicate balance of structured intention and chaotic imperfection. Memory weaves its threads through my art. The layers of paint and the textures all echo the layers of our own stories. In the abstract, I explore the dance between forgetting and remembering, the delicate balance of what we choose to hold close and what we let go.

Bio
About
Shona (Shony) is a Melbourne based artist, originally a Queensland girl - growing up in Brisbane spending many years living on the Gold Coast. She loves traveling and seeing the world, going on adventures, ramen, and exploring her local cafes.
Early Life
Shona’s creative journey began at a young age. She won many art competitions throughout school, with her first award at age 8. It was at age 13 she sold her first painting for $120 to her English teacher who had it framed for their lounge room.
Education
She continued her creative journey beyond high school, partially studying a bachelor of architectural design at university, where she developed a more abstract approach to design and her love of minimalism was born, a design ethos that would shape her artistic trajectory. Since then, she has explored various techniques and styles and refined her skills to express an artistic vision completely authentic to her.
However, Shona’s canvas extends beyond the studio. She delved into the corporate realm, acquiring qualifications in accounting and immersing herself in the intricacies of business. Over a decade of navigating the corporate landscape honed her commercial acumen, sharpening her understanding of marketing, strategy, economics and financial dynamics.
These dual competencies—the fusion of creativity and business acumen eventually converged, leading her to establish and build her own thriving art business.
Artistic Style
Shona’s work is characterized by a harmonious blend of minimalism and soft colour tones layered on textured compositions. Her work is infused with coastal and mediterranean themes, delicately balancing texture and subtlety with the intent of evoking memories and inviting viewers to connect with their own narratives.
Inspirations
Shona draws inspiration from her love of architecture, the ocean, and the beautiful places she has travelled in the world. Her creative canvas becomes a tapestry woven with these threads of influence.
